NOTE! i strongly recommend this version,
    124475470013
, it has a smaller gear that
    replicates
the taper of the original pots BETTER than using your large old gear.****

the maestro boomerang wah. the legend!
    *300+ satisfied customers
all over the world are now enjoying their original tone again.
a correct boomerang has an extended low mid and mid emphasis that must be played to fully be appreciated. for a good example of this expressiveness, look up jj cale's song 'crazy mama', a beautiful use of boomerang wah. listen to the expressive growl as he rides the sweet spot.
very few vintage boomerangs still have their original pots, and the great majority of the surviving pots have gone scratchy.
    QUESTION:
    "
Can't I just use a 100K pot made for wahs
    in my Maestro Boomerang?"
no. according to research from one of the original engineers, the boomerang circuit was designed specifically for the lower value pots since the potentiometer in the boomerang is a key part of the biasing network.
    -
furthermore, the taper of crybaby/vox 100k pots is exactly the wrong sweep, since boomerangs have their pots mounted in the opposite rotation! this ca
uses the classic maestro mid emphasis and expressiveness to suffer greatly.
    QUESTION:
I read on the internet  that putting a 33k limiting resistor on the 100k pot will work as a replacement in a vintage boomerang?"
    we have restored many boo
    mer
angs that had this 'fix' installed. they simply do not sound or react like a real boomerang ( again due to biasing issues - the 33k to ground th
    ro
ws the natural bias off even more). the low and mids are weak, and the expressiveness that boomers are famous for is missing. many customers have written to thank us for our special pot after trying this "100k/+limiting
    resistor
    trick
", saying " I finally have my boomerang back" after installing our replacement.
now, for the first time in years, a suitable replacement pot specifically researched for use in vintage BG1 and BG2 model maestro boomerangs is available.
how did we achieve this? two years of searching, measuring and testing. dozens of pots were tried,  original BG1 and BG2 pots were measured and sound tested. at least 20 vintage boomerangs were involved, and the original boomerang wah manufacturer was consulted. we also did computer circuit sim
ulation modelling to assist in the selection process.
what about the volume pedal function?
BG2 boomerangs and boomer2s have gotten a bad rap over the years as tone suckers, as they are not true bypass in their original configuration. this may be due to ill affects of incorrect pots. when a proper pot is installed, the volume pedal actually gives a slight boost at full volume, no tone sucking.
please note that it is normal for BG2s to not go full silent when in heel down position. nearly silent, but not fully off.
features of the new boomer pot:
special pack of extra washers to allow correct alignment, as this varies depending on when your boomerang was made.
IMPORTANT NOTE - OUR POT'S TAPER IS LESS CONDENSED THAN THE ORIGINAL , YOU ACTUALLY GET A MORE ORIGINAL SWEEP WITH OUR REGULAR GEAR VERSION  ebay item

    IMPORTANT INSTALL NOTE!
if your original rack gear ( the straight one) has become curved like the one in the photo above, you will feel a rough operation. please contact us for replacement rack gear or instruction on how to straighten yours. the normal dunlop or vox crybaby gear is too short and will not reach.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR RACK GEAR BEFORE ordering. our 14 tooth will mesh wonderfully with the original rack gear BUT ONLY IF it is in very good, straight condition. also, even with straight original rack gears, sometimes the teeth are worn, not really visible, but the motion is rough due to sloppy teeth.
IF you have concerns about the condition of your rack gear, we offer a custom make you a replacement by modifying dunlop crybaby rack to fit your wah. this is a special operation, cost is an additional  , no added shipping. included is a special pin tool to push your roll pin out along with a special instruct video on changing the gear. YOU MUST MESSAGE US AT TIME OF CHECKOUT TO GET this ADDED TO YOUR ORDER, to avoid a 2nd shipping charge.
IMPORTANT INSTALL NOTE #2!! many of the boomerangs have lost their heelside felt bumper which limited travel of the treadle. if yours is missing, you must add one to keep rack gear from running off end of pot, and/ or to keep pot from riding into the internal stop , which is damaging to the pot. please message us for help with this, always happy to advise.
this part works for all maestro boomerang and boomer2 wahs, models BG1 and BG2, along with the All Test Devices ATD WV-1, 70s Electra Wah-Wah Volume,  and any boomerang type wahs in dearmond type shells with the pot on the left ( when viewed upside down)
. also an excellent replacement for the early style dearmond 1800 wah-volume, please contact us for info and help on figuring out which version you have  - there were 2, early and later style.
note: this item is a 50k pot. after years of testing/ measuring/ designing i found that 50k is an excellent replacement for boomers. the modern PEC 25k were actually coming in at 22k and were sorely lacking the treble. when i went to the 50k, the treble all came back and the overall feel and tone is within 5% to my ears of the original centralabs , ( which almost always measured 28k to 31k ).  since 2012 over 500 people have used our 50k in boomers and
    none
have been sent back for tonal reasons.
