unfortunately, many people have not felt or heard the TRUE awesomeness due to the lack of correct replacement pots.

a correct boomerang has an extended low mid and mid emphasis that must be played to be appreciated. for a good example of this expressiveness, look up jj cale's song 'crazy mama', a beautiful use of boomerang wah. listen to the expressive growl in the mids!
very few
boomerangs still have their original pots, and many of these have gone scratchy. many shops and individuals have had to "make do" with 100k pots designed for other wah brands ( boomerangs all came with small value pots of  a specific taper ).
even worse, the taper of crybaby/vox 100k pots is exactly the wrong sweep, since boomerangs have their pots mounted in the opposite rotation! the internet 'trick' of putting 33k limiting resistors on the 100k pot actually makes this worse. the kink in the sweep gets condensed even further with a limiting resistor.
now, for the first time in years, a suitable replacement pot specifically researched and prepped for use in vintage BG1 and BG2 model maestro boomerangs is available.
how did we achieve this? two years of searching, measuring and testing. dozens of pots were tried, every trick was tried, original BG1 and BG2 pots were measured and sound tested. at least 20 vintage boomerangs were involved, and the original manufacturer was consulted.
what about the volume pedal function?
BG2 boomerangs and boomer2s have gotten a bad rap over the years as tone suckers, as they are not true bypass in their original configuration. this may be due to ill affects of incorrect pots. when a proper pot is installed, the volume pedal actually gives a slight boost at full volume, no tone sucking.
please note that it is normal for BG2s to not go full silent when in heel down position. nearly silent, but not fully off.

in our testing the modern 14 tooth gear on our modern pot matches the original custom centralab taper better than the larger gears ( the centralab had a more condensed taper) .
NOTE - gear color may vary, as shown in photos.
IMPORTANT INSTALL NOTE!
if your original rack gear ( the straight one) has become curved like the one in the photo above, you will feel a rough operation. please contact us for replacement rack gear or instruction on how to straighten yours. the normal dunlop or vox crybaby gear is too short and will not reach.PLEASE CHECK YOUR RACK GEAR BEFORE ordering. our 14 tooth will mesh wonderfully with the original rack gear BUT ONLY IF it is in very good, straight condition. also, even with straight original rack gears, sometimes the teeth are worn, not really visible, but the motion is rough due to sloppy teeth.

!! many of the boomerangs have lost their heelside felt bumper which limited travel of the treadle. if yours is missing, you must add one to keep rack gear from running off end of pot, and/ or to keep pot from riding into the internal stop , which is damaging to the pot. please message us for help with this, always happy to advise.   see video.youtube  .
