Description
Orginal photos of aftermath of the tornado the hit the Missouri State Fair Grounds on Aug 20, 1952 11 photos total, 7 stamped on the back and numbered "PLEASE CREDIT TOENNES PHOTO SERVICES Booneville, MO" these photos are numbered as follows: 211, 216, 218, 219, 223, 228 & 249 3 photos have nothing on the back and are of flooding of the Mississippi River from storms in 1952One has handwriting in Pencil that I cannot make out what the first name or word is but the 2nd is "HEIL"
All photos have discoloration due to age and a slight curvature from not being stored completely flat.
One photo has a section of one coroner missing. One has 3 tears and a crease.
There is some slight damage to a few edges. All photos have a curvature ti the from not being stored flat
1952 The golden anniversary of the Missouri State Fair was marked with a tragedy when the fairgrounds was hit by a tornado at 1:20 a.m. on August 20. The storm centered on the midway area and a carnival employee was killed. Despite suffering extensive damage to all 60 permanent buildings on the fairgrounds, totaling almost 0,000, the fair was back in operation the following evening.
This disaster even made The New York Times!!!
