    Description

This is the highly sought after and coveted "S" grille Catalin radio from 1941.  The swirled butterscotch cabinet with the mottled green grille face and handle is probably more beautiful with age than when it was new.  Though it has two of the very common stress cracks (right lower front and left side) seen in many of the catalin radios, it retains its comeliness and grace from all angles.  The cabinet, grille and handle are all original Catalin.  The knobs are replacements that are a perfect match for the cabinet.  The back cover/antenna assembly is a replacement and in very good condition.
An AM radio having five tubes and a internal loop antenna, it has very good selectivity, sensitivity and reception.
    And of course a
s with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail.  Please check the reviews on other radios I have restored and sold.
The cabinet was cleaned, polished & buffed using a five step process and as can be seen, the results are outstanding.
The Catalin shines with depth and luster.
The dial graphics are crisp, clear & well lighted.  The dial cover is new and crystal clear.  The replacement knobs have been polished. The grill cloth was replaced with one that is a perfect enhancement. The replaced back cover is in very good condition. The power cord was replaced, using the original plug. The photos say the rest about how stunning this radio is and how well it displays.
Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with
    all
paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced.  Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed.  All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated.  Wiring and other components were replaced as needed.  The speaker has some patch repairs.  The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal loop antenna.
    Extraordinarily
attractive at 80 years old and highly collectible, this valuable Catalin radio will go up in value as the years go by.  It will provide many more years of reliable visual and audio delight since being completely restored, as long as it is pr
    operly cared for.  Dimensions:  11x8.5x6.5".
Shipping will be a bit expensive, as this radio will be double boxed and insured. The insurance cost is reflected as the "Handling Fees".
This radio will be packaged very carefully for shipment and may be double boxed if needed to best protect it.  It will have packing materials placed between the chassis/tubes and cabinet to reduce the risk of tube displacement or damage during shipment.
The buyer must remove those materials prior to use.
The seller will instruct the buyer on how to accomplish this after the radio has shipped.
Buyers should note that tube AM & SW radio reception can often be very negatively affected by florescent, LED and other lights, even those in another room.  It can also be affected by FAX machines and other devices.  If you are having reception interference, try turning off those devices and check for improvement.
Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced.
The tubes in this radio are in good
    working order.
The seller cannot guarantee the length of time before a tube will need to be replaced. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off.
