Description
Built to Order - Current build times are estimated between 2-3 weeks.Mr. Clyde is a re-creation of the classic Clyde McCoy wah wah circuit that screamed its way onto countless recordings from the late 60’s when it was first introduced. It is unmistakably of one the most iconic wah tones due to its use by Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, SRV, and countless others.
Mr. Clyde features a few modern enhancements that make it more versatile than the vintage units for the modern player.
True Bypass Switching
It features a true bypass switch preventing any ‘tone suck’ that would occur in vintage units when the wah was bypassed.
Supports a 9V DC Jack
It features a 9V DC jack with a simple noise filtering circuit providing a modern powering solution.
J-FET Output Buffer
Mr. Clyde also features a switchable J-FET output buffer which is sometimes needed, especially if running the wah in front of a vintage fuzz pedal.
When the buffer is bypassed, the buffer circuit is completely out of the signal path; both the input and output of the buffer circuit are disconnected. When the buffer is engaged, it is placed between the wah circuit output and the bypass switch. Meaning that when the wah effect is bypassed, it is still wired in true bypass, even if the buffer is on.
Vintage-Style & NOS Components
Mr. Clyde features vintage-style carbon composition resistors, new-old-stock tropical fish and polystyrene capacitors, new-old-stock BC109B metal can transistors, a Halo inductor, and a 100K ICAR taper potentiometer, staying true to the components selections found in the original Clyde McCoy wah circuit.
