Description
This is a unique lot of the McHenry County Fair from 1919 collection of ribbon prizes (I think called premiums from back then), some stiff cardstock premiums, a badge shaped patch, and a letter to add to the provenance of the lot of items. The letter is written to a Mr. Thomas Wilson in Woodstock, IL to congratulate him on placing in the corn club and special awards for corn. Sent to him were thrift stamps and a pin for the years work.
I do not believe the thrift stamps or the pin are included, but the ribbons from his placings.
Included in the lot are 2 blue stiffer cardstock First Place tags, 1 orange 2nd premium tag, and 1 white third premium tag; a white 1st prize ribbon from the 1917 1/2 Acre Class at the McHenry County Corn Contest, a Blue First Place Ribbon for 1919 County Fair, a red 2nd premium 1919 ribbon for the corn department for the McHenry County Boy's and Girl's Club Fair and a white 3rd premium for the 1919 Club Fair of Best 100 ears Sample Corn.
There is also a yellow ribbon with no placement from the Ardmour Junior Club Tours International LiveStock Show from 1919.
The letter is dated December 12, 1919 and signed by Thomas Murray, the County Junior Advisor.
Great collection of history for agriculture, farming, 4H Boy's and Girl's Club.
